Rendang is a spicy Indonesian beef dish in an almost dry coconut sauce. this Indonesian cuisine originally comes from West Sumatera. traditionally in Minangkabau or better known as Padang, where it originally comes from. Rendang is served for the main course in every traditional ceremony, especially in religious ceremony such as Iedul Fitri. Rendang is most famous in Thailand, Singapore, and Brunai since it is close to Indonesia.
In the recent days this Indonesian traditional cuisine is increasingly global, with the recognition from some foreign media which stated that " Rendang is most delicious food in the world". as said in the CNN website " Rendang is in the first place for the most delicious food in the world ". no wonder why Indonesian is acknowledged by its food.
The taste from rendang is so unique and spicy, mostly people classify rendang into spicy cuisine since the ingredients is mostly spice which is originally comes from Indonesia. nowadays, rendang not only a beef but also it already developed into chicken rendang, egg rendang, potatoes rendang and others. Rendang itself has a variance from such as the dried rendang, wet or known as "Kalio" and normal rendang.
- the dried rendang is described in dried sauce that as already become fleck of coconut shaving, the meat texture is harder than the normal one.
- Kalio is rendang before it becomes the normal rendang, usually the color is light brown but not as brown as the normal rendang and the meat texture is softer.
