Dieng plateau is located in Central Java province, into the Wonosobo region and Banjarnegara region. Dieng is 116 northwest of the city of Yogyakarta ( approximately 3 hours drive ) and in one direction of Borobudur temple, so you have to put Dieng on your destination after visiting Borobudur temple. the etymology "Dieng" comes from the word "Di" (place or mountain ) and " Hyang" which means god, so Dieng could be represented as mountainous region where god dwell.
Dieng plateau presents a beautiful natural wonders and interesting, such as extreme tourism in a volcanic region, the exotic local culture, and unique phenomenon of kids with dreadlock. Dieng as the highest plateau in Java with an average altitude of 2000m above sea level, with temperatures ranging from 15-20 degrees during the day and 10 degrees at night.
there are a relic Hinduism temple complex in Dieng, one of them is Arjuna temple. otherwise it's quite interesting attractions is the "color lake" who can bring the color green, red, blue white and violet. it's actually in the causes for which a very high sulfur content that will appear colored when exposed by sunlight. just like the other highland, Dieng also offers a beautiful sunrise panorama, and it can be enjoyed easily from Sikunir hill which is only 30 minutes from the last place that could reach by car.
