la tomatina or better known as tomatoes fight is one of the most popular events in Spain. this tomatos festival held in the town of Bunol, Valencian, a town that located 30 km from the Mediteranian. la tomatina usually held on the last wednesday of August each year.
la tomatina was first held on last Wednesday in 1945 when some of young people gathered in the town square too see the parade and they decide to have a place among the retinue of the parade. these boys packed tightly together and made one of the paticipant fell of. this led the anger of the boys so they throw everything in front of them. there was a market stall of vegetable that fell victim of the crowd, people started to pelt each other with tomatoes until the local forces ended that vegetable battle.
since then the boys made tomato fight as a tradition to have fun. they even brought their own tomatoes from home and more participants year to year so that the tomato fight is becoming very festive. tomato fight has become one of the interesting spectacle for domestic and foreign tourist who come to Spain.
