Giethorn is a beautiful  village in the Dutch  province of Overrijssel and  located in the municipality of  Steenwijkerland. Giethorn also well known as " Venice of the north" because in Giethorn  all transport was done by water over one of the many canals or on foot over its wooden arch bridges and in  the old part of the village, there were no roads (though a cycling path was eventually added) just like in Venice. There are 4 miles of canals and farmhouse with thatched roofs dating back to the 18th century.
