Bali is famous in addition to the beautiful tourist area and also famous for it's unique traditions are still adhered to today. one of which is the tradition of "Ngaben" the cremation ceremony. although cremation also done by other than Hinduism religion, but only in Bali this ceremony is performed by a unique and magnificent, making it an atrractive spectatle for tourist.
cremation ceremony is considered important for the people of Bali, because it is regarded as atribute from the left, so that the ceremony is performed with lively, no sobs, as if weeping believed the dead would hinder his journey to higher ground.
before Ngaben ceremony, a lot of preparation to be done by the family, among other in consultation with 'pedande/pemangku' (pastor in Catholica religion) about the good day to do Ngaben. then made a calf (bade) as a place to put the bodies, which are made from wood, bamboo and colorful paper that made and decorated with magificent. after that, the bodies is washed, given the make-up and custom clothing Bali. the bodies was then placed over the cattle and carried by the rollicking family and surrounding community. and when reached the kiln, the 'pedande' gave a prayer, then the bodies burned to ashes. residual ashes swept away (floated) to the river or sea which is considered sacred.
